Car Insurance Jeep (Car Insurance). Does anyone know the Riverside,CA road test route?Does anyone know the Riverside,CA road test route? I want to get a feel for the area before I take my behind-the-wheel test. They use random routes, but they all start from the DMV, start by taking a right turn out of the parking lot, and only last a few minutes, so there isn't much they can change. Dmv testers in cities switch routes so that's not going to help you. why? #1 you drive it slow, go back same speed. you must feel comfortable with the road, then proceed. at night is better, if your experienced. sometimes those people, won't even know nothing & if they do they will boo & hiss, be not discouraging, always remember the road!!!!!!!!! Jeep . How to Replace a Waterpump on a 1996 Hyundai ElantraThe water pump on the 1996 Hyundai Elantra is behind the timing belt covers. It is recommended that you replace the water pump and timing belt at the same time, since the same amount of work is required. Also, if the water pump leaked antifreeze onto the timing belt, it could cause problems later. The engine in the Elantra is an interference engine, thus, you must take extreme care when removing the water pump and timing belt, because you will grenade the engine if the timing marks are not perfectly lined up. Difficulty:Challenging Instructions Things You'll Need Set of wrenches Drain pan Set of sockets Marker Plastic scraper Shop rags Torque wrench Step by Step : 1 Disconnect the negative battery cable and set it aside, ensuring that it does not touch metal. Slide the drain pan under the radiator petcock. Loosen the petcock and remove the radiator cap. Allow the coolant to drain. Discard the coolant in an appropriate manner. Close the petcock. 2 Rotate the accessory drive belt tensioner toward the center of the engine using the appropriate socket. The Hyundai uses a 1.8-liter or 2.0-liter engine in 1996. If the tensioner pulley has a square hole, stick the socket end of the ratchet into the hole to rotate the pulley. As the belt loosens, lift it off the pulleys. 3 Remove the water pump pulley bolts. Remove the timing belt covers. Rotate the crankshaft pulley clockwise, using the appropriate socket. Line up the timing marks on the crankshaft pulley at the 11 o'clock position. If the timing mark on the camshaft is not lined up with the mark on the head, rotate the crankshaft once more, then the camshaft timing mark will line up at the 12 o' clock position. 4 Remove the timing belt guide. Loosen the tensioner bolt, rotate the tensioner away from the belt, then tighten the bolt enough to keep the tensioner out of the way. Lift the timing belt off the sprockets. 5 Mark the water pump bolts -- they are different lengths and must be reinstalled in the same places. Disconnect the water outlet pipe. Remove the water pump. Clean the gasket-mating surface on the engine block, using the plastic scraper and shop rags. Ensure that no gasket material remains on the mounting surface or behind the crankshaft sprocket. 6 Install a new O-ring onto the water pump. Smear a thin layer of RTV silicone on the gasket-mounting surfaces if your new water pump comes with additional gaskets. Position the gaskets onto the water pump. Position the water pump onto the engine, then insert the bolts and screw them in as far as possible by hand. 7 Tighten the bolts to 10 foot-pounds of torque on the 2.0-liter engine and to 15 foot-pounds of torque on the 1.8-liter engine. 8 Ensure that the timing marks are still lined up. Install the timing belt, working clockwise, starting at the crankshaft sprocket. Work your way up, behind the idler pulley, over the top of the camshaft sprocket, then behind the tensioner pulley, keeping tension on the right side (as you are looking down at the engine). 9 Loosen the timing belt tensioner and allow it to rotate into the belt. Push it firmly against the timing belt. Tighten the tensioner bolt to 38 foot-pounds of torque. Turn the crankshaft one fill revolution clockwise and make sure the timing marks are still lined up. Step by Step : 10 Apply pressure halfway between the camshaft sprocket and the idler pulley with a force of 5 pounds. If the belt deflects more or less than 0.16 to 0.24 inch, adjust tension on the belt. Step by Step : 11 Reinstall the timing belt covers and water pump pulley, but only hand-tighten the bolts. Allow the tensioner to put tension on the belt. Tighten the water pump pulley bolts to 6 foot-pounds of torque. Reinstall the accessory drive belt. Fill the radiator with coolant.
Jeep . How to Set the Timing on a 1200 GoldwingThere are two types of timing on a Honda GL1200 Gold Wing, ignition and valve timing. The valve timing must be exact, as the Gold Wing engine is an interference engine, and serious engine damage will occur if it is not done properly. Setting this timing is relatively simple, but must be done with extreme care. Setting this timing is only necessary when the timing belts have been removed for replacement. The ignition timing is set from the factory, and is not adjustable without the purchase of aftermarket components. Difficulty:Moderate Instructions Things You'll Need Standard metric hand tools Large flat head screwdriver Metal marker or white out Step by Step : 1 Set the crankshaft to top dead center. Remove the timing plug from the engine case using the large flat head screwdriver, and set the "T" mark so it aligns exactly with the line in the center of the window on the case. When turning the engine with the bolt on the alternator, you must use a ratchet and a deep socket. Do not turn it counterclockwise, even if the manual tells you to. This can result in internal parts being loosened, and serious damage can occur. If you pass the mark, keep turning the engine clockwise until the mark comes up again. 2 Mark the timing mark on both the left and right hand side camshaft pulleys with metal marker or white out. Do the same with the timing marks on the case. This makes it easier to visually line up the marks while installing the new timing belts. 3 Install the right side timing belt first. Run the belt around the crankshaft pulley, using care not to turn it at all. Route the belt inside the tensioner, leaving the tensioner as loose as possible. Route it around the camshaft pulley, ensuring that the timing marks are exactly lined up. Once the belt is in place, tighten the tensioner bolt slightly. Check the "T" mark in the timing window, and ensure that it is still lined up exactly. If it is not, remove the belt and redo the process until the "T" mark is exactly in the center at the same time that the timing marks are lined up. 4 Repeat the process for the left timing belt. Ensure that the "T" mark and the timing marks for the right timing belt are still aligned when the left timing mark is aligned. Do not turn the engine over at all until all of these marks are aligned exactly, because a difference of as little as three teeth on any of the gears or the timing belt will result in serious engine damage. 5 Tighten the tensioner bolts. Carefully turn the motor over using the ratchet and deep socket one time, until the timing mark comes back around to the center of the window. Check all timing marks again. When all marks are aligned, and the tensioner and all pulley bolts have been tightened, install the timing belt covers. Tips & Warnings Before beginning this process, you should already have removed the timing belt cover, and the old timing belts. Remove the belts in the opposite order of the installation instructions here. If one of the timing belts broke, you must examine the cylinder heads and valves before resetting the timing, because it is likely that some damage has occurred. *You can buy products for cleaning the cooling system during the flushing process. These products remove rust and sediment that flushing with plain water can't. If your cooling system has been cleaned regularly and you want to clean it yourself, buy a well-known brand and follow the instructions on the package carefully. Chapter 14: Keeping Your Car from Getting Heartburn Be aware that using a cleaner on a system that has years of built-up rust and sediment can free so much of the stuff that you run the risk of clogging your radiator or thermostat, or possibly loosening the deposits that have prevented the system from leaking. If your vehicle's cooling system hasn't been cleaned for a couple of years, have the system flushed, cleaned, and refilled professionally. Keeping coolant out of the mouthsof babes and small animals Anyone who has raised kids through the crawling and toddling stages knows that they tend pick up the most revolting stuff off the ground and put it into their mouths. Because coolant looks and tastes good, a puddle of the stuff can be hazardous. That goes double for thirsty cats, dogs, and wildlife. Most coolant contains ethylene glycol, which is poisonous when swallowed. According to the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), this chemical causes depression, followed by respiratory and cardiac failure, kidney damage, and brain damage. Although no coolant is completely nontoxic, some coolants on the market contain propylene glycol instead of ethylene glycol to reduce their toxicity. At least one (Prestone LowTox) has received the Seal of Approval from the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). However, even if you use this type of coolant, be sure to follow the instructions in this section. Take these steps to protect your pets and small children from accidentally drinking coolant: 1. Make it a habit to check under your vehicle for coolant leaks. If you find a puddle of colored liquid below the under-the-hood area — and it isn't oily — it's probably coolant. 689

Store used coolant safely until disposal. Pour the used coolant into a container with a screw-on cap, label the container as "coolant" or "antifreeze," and place it well out of the reach of kids and pets until you can dispose of it, following the instructions in Step 6. Don't use containers that formerly contained beverages. They are too easily mistaken, and the sweet taste of the coolant can compound the error. 6. Dispose of used coolant safely. The most environmentally safe method is to take the coolant to a recycling center that handles toxic waste or bring it to a place that specifically recycles used coolant. Some auto supply stores accept used coolant as a public service. Call the major stores in your area to see whether they do so. If not, try a service station. They can either run the coolant through their recycling machine or include it in the batch they send out for safe disposal. Jeep . The EPA warns that antifreeze can overwhelm the organisms in your septic system, damaging the system, and suggests that if your wastewater goes into a septic tank, you should dispose of antifreeze in a sanitary sewer system. The organization cautions, "Do not pour antifreeze into storm sewer openings, sinkholes, or abandoned wells." EH If your engine boils over, be sure to clean up the spill wherever you are. Wild animals are just as vulnerable to being poisoned by coolant as domestic pets are. Finding Leaks in the Cooling System In addition to keeping the water and coolant level where it needs to be, you can prevent trouble by keeping an eye out for leaks and replacing old or damaged hoses. Figure 14-4 shows the common trouble spots in the cooling system — the places where you should check for coolant leaks. The following sections give you a few pointers on what types of coolant leaks to look for, and the section "Repairing Leaks in the Cooling System" tells you what to do if you find them.
